Obama Helps “Right Wing Nuts,” Shoots Self in Foot

By Dan | August 1, 2008

Michelle Malkin has a great take on the Obama, “I’m don’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bill” comments.

What continues to baffle me is Obama focusing on his own weaknesses. His insistence on pointing out that many people think he is not patriotic is hurting him. Simply because the argument carries weight if you look back over what he has said.

The race issue is another thing altogether, he is trying to smear the right and instead he is making himself look small. He is trying to portray his opposition as a bunch of racists but instead Americans see him as throwing mud.

Last night I was watching the news on Channel 9 here in DC, not a conservative stronghold by any means, and they had a poll asking if Obama played the race card. To my great surprise 56% of the respondents said yes, this was not a scientific poll, it was rather a poll of DC viewers, the majority of whom are liberal.

Obama keeps trying to portray these arguments against him, that McCain is not using by the way, as extreme and unfounded. Instead he is calling attention to them.

Obama keeps making these mistakes. He apparently thinks that “acting Presidential” means becoming the most arrogant jerk in the room. he thinks humility is telling everyone that he has become the “symbol of hope” that the country is waiting for.

Obama’s campaign has gotten away from what worked which was soaring rhetoric about hope and change. This campaign is no longer about hope and change, it is now about Barack Obama. His arrogance, his lies, his mudslinging and his lack of experience are all contributing to his steady decline in the polls.
