Finally, Some Relief for Crime Riddled DC
By Dan | June 26, 2008
Washington, DC has long been a dangerous place to live. In fact it is safer to join the military and go fight in Baghdad than it is to live in the District. The DC government has recently taken drastic measures to reduce the crime rate, their socialist police state policies have not helped.
What the Supreme Court did today will. By enabling residents to defend themselves DC will become a much more dangerous place to be a criminal. Up to now criminals and police were the only ones able to own usable weapons. That was the way the elected officials wanted it, after the Gun Ban was initially struck down Mayor Fenty said,
“I am strongly opposed to the Court’s decision. District residents deserve every protection afforded to them under District law. I will instruct my Attorney General and the Solicitor General to explore every legal option that will uphold the City’s gun ban.”
What he did not realize was how exposed he was leaving the citizens. DC police are notoriously slow to respond to crime reports. Citizens cannot rely on the police to protect them and now they finally have the opportunity to protect themselves.
